Mic/Vocal recording delay in Logic 9

Hi guys,
I seem to be getting a delay when recording vocals in Logic 9.

So when the vocals are recorded against the backing track they are out of sync even though the singer is singing in sync.

For example if i clap into the mic i can hear the clap in my headphones after i have clapped.

Any ideas? Or is it a Logic 9 bug?

Thanks

It's REALLY hard to diagnose any problem when you don't put the specs of your machine or hardware. Are you running a G4 Powerbook, or a Quadcore Mac Pro? Makes a HUGE difference.

And what latency did you try that Logic couldn't handle? Generally 128 or 256 are good enough to record to without too much latency, and shouldn't strain a fast machine.

If you have a fast machine and it can't handle a low buffer, then something else is wrong. Please give more info about your setup.

The thing is Recording worked fine before i installed Logic 9.

I am using the latest unibody MBP 17" with an Apogee Duet, so computer spec should be upto it.

The track i am working on does have 31 seperate tracks with compressors eqs etc on each. Logic couldny handle 128 on the buffer, i normally use 256 which ran fine under Logic 8. Could it be the Apogee software not working so well with L9?

Check out this article, it has some good information about the way in which Logic handles processing over multiple cores. It might be helpful.....

im just thinking.....i have just installed a bunch of PSP plugins, could that be causing the problem.

Anytime you introduce new 3rd party plugs, and then your performance tanks, there is a good chance those have something to do with it. I'd take them all out of your project, then add them back in one at a time, and see if you can figure out which one is causing the problem.

Also, make sure the I/O Safety Buffer is UNCHECKED. With that on, it causes lots of performance problems and therefore you're going to set your buffer higher.
