I have recently acquired an older piece of software that I am told requires Quicktime 6.3 to run and will not run under Quicktime 7.6.2 which I currently have on my computer- acquired with iTunes. If one tries to uninstall the new QuickTime and install the old, nothing works and I get an error 2095 on trying to run QuickTime. Is there a way of doing this, and if I downgrade QuickTime to an earlier version will it interfere with Itunes 8, which I currently have on my computer?
I don't know what effect an earlier version of QT would have on iTunes 8, my guess would be not very good.
Have you tryed the older piece of software with, Program Compatibility Wizard, I've never used it myself, so know little about it. Start>Programs>Accessories>Program Compatibility Wizard.
The only way I know of where you can run two versions of QT, V6 and V7, on the same computer is with a dual boot system
Program Compatability Wizard is mostly useful for older programs that work with an earlier version of Windows. The problem here according to the manufacturer is that it works only with an earlier version of Quick Time but it is supposed to work with XP.
If it only works with a older version of QT 6.3 then that is apparently what is needed for the software.
You cannot run QT6 and QT7 on the same windows XP computer you have to go with one or the other.
The only way I know of to have both QT versions on the same XP computer. Is to have two operating systems installed on the computer, one for each version of QT
But the problem is, one cannot simply uninstall Quicktime 7.6.2 and install 6.3 or you get a 2095 error. It seems pieces of 7.6.2 remain and interfere with 6.3 functioning. I tried this and had to abort the installation and restore the database and registry to its prior state- otherwise no Quick Time would work.
