delete emails from iPod iTouch only (not from server)

when I delete an email from my iTouch I would like it to be removed ONLY from the iTouch (on a Blackberry one has the option of deleting from the handheld only or from the server). Is there a way that I can only delete from the iTouch but still have the account sync?

I would like to figure out how to do this too. There used to be an option in the email settings for deleting messages from the server but this seems to have disappeared with the recent OS update.
I'd like to use my main computer as the official email machine where all of my emails are kept rather than have emails floating around between a couple different devices.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
