Macboom connect to LE37R87BD Samsung TV with VGA problem

When I try to connect with the mini DVI to VGA adapter, the TV goes black and the power light flashes. No matter what I try, I can't get it to work. What could the problem be?

hi,

I have the same problem with my Samsung LE40B530 TV, also with VGA...
goes to black, but my macbook DOES detects the television. ( I've tried it with my old windows laptop and it works...)
