How To Receive an Unread Mail Count/Flag in Dock (with Rules).....

I have recently set up rules for my GMail account to forward certain e-mails to new mailboxes in my Mail app. My question is: Is there a way to continue to receive the unread mail flag in the dock when an incoming message is automatically moved to a mailbox? I have been getting the new message "sound" when the new e-mails come in, but no longer receive the unread mail flag in the dock.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
