French keyboard from US online apple store

Call Apple Phone Sales and inquire. It should be AZERTY - in Canada, there a French Canadian keyboard layout that's QWERTY, but since the page lists French, not French Canadian, you should be getting a vrai French layout.

Also, be aware that to purchase from the US Online Store, you must have a credit card with a US billing address.

I called the U.S. Apple Store 2 separate times at 1-800-MY-APPLE as well as the 5th Avenue NYC Store (and spoke to a store employee).

All 3 Apple employees told me that the French Keyboard available for MacBook Pros on the U.S. Apple Store are French Canadian QWERTY Keyboards. They checked to see if they could order the French (from France) keyboard but it is not possible.

I bought my last MacBook in Paris, France and prefer the French AZERTY keyboard. However, saving 360€/$500 by purchasing a new MBPro in the U.S. is tempting.

Mirenal, if you did order the "French Keyboard Layout" on your new MB/MBPro, could you please let us know if it the actual French AZERTY or the French Canadian keyboard? Thank you!

It looks like the U.S. Online Store really does offer a French AZERTY keyboard even though the sales representatives told me it was a French Canadian QWERTY. Good news!

Just to update, I ordered a MacBook Pro with a French keyboard (from France) from the U.S. Online Apple Store.

It arrived today, complete with a French AZERTY keyboard and Snow Leopard 10.6 preinstalled. The user guide is in French but the Magsafe charger came with the U.S. outlet plug (not a problem since I can easily swap in the E.U. outlet plug).

Je pense qu'il n'est pas possible, malheureusement, de pré-commander un macbook pro dans un Apple Store particulier!
Comment avez-vous fait pour passer commande sur l'Apple Store US? Je n'ai malheureusement pas d'adresse aux US.

Je suis américaine (mais j'habite à Paris) et j'ai une carte bleu américaine avec une adresse aux Etats-Unis qui me permet de passer les commandes sur l'Apple Store Online US. C'est l'adresse de mes parents, donc mon MacBook Pro est arrivé chez eux pendant mes vacances là-bas. Malheureusement, il faut une carte bleu avec une adresse aux Etats-Unis pour faire les achats sur l'Apple Store Online US.

J'ai téléphoné plusieurs magasins Apple aux Etats-Unis et ce n'est pas possible de commander les ordinateurs avec les claviers internationaux. Ils m'ont dit de l'acheter sur l'Apple Store Online US parce-que les MacBook Pros avec les claviers français (et japonais) sont fabriqués sur mesure en Chine.

Si vous voulez vraiment économiser de l'argent, vous pouvez acheter un MacBook Pro à Chicago dans un vrai magasin Apple avec le clavier américain. Puis, vous pouvez choisir français pour la langue de Mac OS X et aussi choisir le clavier français dans Préférences Système (toutes les langues et tous les claviers virtuels sont disponible à partir de Préférences Système). Vous pouvez également mettre Mac OS X en français mais continuer avec le clavier américain et faire tous les accents avec les raccourcis (je peux vous indiquer les raccourcis plus tard si vous voulez car je faisais comme ça avec un MacBook ancien, mais mon fiancé français préfère le clavier français).

C'est un peu gênant la différence entre les claviers QWERTY et AZERTY, mais pour moi, tout à fait supportable - en plus, si vous pouvez acheter le même MacBook Pro (sauf clavier) pour 815€ aux U.S. au lieu de 1149€ en Belgique !
