How do I plug my guitar into my Macbook Pro for GarageBand?

Question

How do I plug my guitar into my Macbook Pro for GarageBand?

Just got it last week, looking forward to using GarageBand as I love playing guitar (electric especially). Unfortunately, I have zero clue how to plug in my guitar to my laptop, and have no idea what cords or cables I need to do this.

If someone could help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

what output does your Guitar have?

Check out Griffin website, they have a couple cables that might do what you want.

Here is a good post to do what you need (you should Google more often) 😉

There is a USB to 1/4" phono plug that you can use. I can't remember who makes them though.
It's best to get an external audio/midi interface with (IMHO) a Firewire connection.
Check out Edirol, M-Audio, EMU, Tapco, Apogee, Alesis io... it all depends on what you want to spend.
