Can you export 30 stills at once?

I'm not sure if this is possible in FCE (or in any other application for that matter) but thought I'd still ask. I have about 40 movie files, each one around 20 mins long. From each movie I need to export about 30 stills. Is there a program (in FCE or any other program that might be out there) where I could import the movie and export 30 still images at once without having to export each still image one by one. They could be random stills. Think of it as if I'm trying to re-create the storyline of the movie (using stills from the actual movie).

I've heard before that I can export a whole movie file from FCE into Photoshop - frame by frame , but needless to say that will end up with about 40,000 stills.
Any ideas? I would really appreciate it it I could save me a few days of exporting stills 🙂 Thanks

any QT-based app, as FCE or iMovie, offers in its export-options the feature 'Export Image Sequence'; choosing that, you'll be asked about the framerate.. now, you have to do the math, at what 0.00x frames per sec, your file gets converted into 30 stills.. 🙂

hint: a 1sec NTSC movie gives with 30fps eactly 30 frames .. a 10 sec NTSC movie gives with 3fps exactly 30 frames.. now, your turn 😉

2nd hint: create a Folder you export to! in case, you made a wrong calculation, and you export to Desktop, your System can get damaged! no fun, too much files ( a few thousands) cluttering the Desktop can halt the whole MacOs..
