Earthlink mailbox to Mail?

I'm moving from a PC to Mac. I've been using Earthlink Mailbox as my mail program, and I'd like to move my email archives to the Mac. Apparently this isn't easy. I can export my email messages as a CSV file or an MDAT file. But Mail on the Mac can't read that information.
Does anyone know how to do this?

Greetings,

Earthlink doesn't make it easy to do anything, so you can't use CSV or MDAT files in Mail. But you can use a third-party utilitiy to load your Earthlink email into Gmail, after which you can setup your Gmail account to work with Mail.

When I got my iMac a year ago, Apple techs told me I couldn't continue to use Earthlink Mail with my myEarthlink start page, so I was limited to Web Mail, but of course, the messages are deleted all too soon. Recently, when speaking to an Earthlink tech via chat support about a Web Mail problem, I asked whether Earthlink had now worked with Apple to resolve this so that I could reinstate Earthlink Mail, as I'd used on my previous Dell laptop. The tech said yes... but wondering if is this true; has anyone done this yet? Thanks.
