MS2 long delay responding to notes played

I already posted this to apple's support form. I'm wondering if anybody else is having the same problem as me.

I recently upgraded to MS2 on my macbook. I had been using MS1 for a fairly complex virtual instrument rig for live work with a Pink Floyd tribute band.

So far every time I've launched MS2, it eventually becomes unresponsive to notes played. If a note sounds at all, it is several seconds late - perhaps 10 seconds. This is hard to time, because sometimes notes don't sound at all. It remains unresponsive like this for a period of time (perhaps 1-5 minutes) and then typically "comes back".

The last time it did this, I was playing a part that included both notes and pitch bend movements for an EXS24 instrument. It seemed like it may have stuck on a pitch bend movement.

This is a 2.16Ghz macbook (fall 2007) with 4GB RAM (it can use 3.3 of this), with an Apogee duet and a Novation Remote Zero as control surface and midi input from a Yamaha S90 keyboard. Samples are on an external USB2 drive.

Thanks,
John

That (deleting old preferences) sounds like good thing to try, but one concern: What will that do to MS1? As of now, I need MS1 to work, because I CANNOT use MS2 live until it stops doing this.

Is that a file I can move or rename, and then put it back if I don't like the results?

Also, it looks like they didn't create a new preferences files for MS2, meaning that pref changes for one version may have an effect on the other. That could be unfortunate...

The other thing that's occurred to me to try is turning off autosave. I've already done that, but haven't had time to test it yet.

Thanks,
John
