apple extreme wireless router blinking orange when behind a switch

So i need to break up my internet into wired and wireless parts. I have the cable router linked to a switch which break up the connection in two. One goes to a mac pro and the other goes to the wireless router. I cannot get the router to broadcast a signal that carries the internet though.

is there a setting that needs to be changed for this to work properly?
