still an option? this was never an option in Mail from GUI.
you can do it from terminal though.

run the following command in terminal

defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Return-Receipt-To" = "your_receipt@goes.here"; "Disposition-Notification-To" = "your_receipt@goes.here"; }'

and substituting "your_receipt@goes.here" with your own email address. However, this will cause Mail to send a receipt request EVERY time you send an email.

also keep in mind that the email clients of your email recipients have to support receipt notification AND it has to be turned on. if they don't support it (Mail doesn't btw) or the feature is turned off this will not work and there is absolutely nothing you can do to get receipt notifications.

Also, should add, if my Mac can't do it, then why can a PC? Doesn't compute in this "since '84" Mac user's mind.... 😝

the same limitation on the recipient's email client applies if you send an email from a PC. if you send email from your PC to someone who uses mac Mail you won't get receipt notification no matter what you do.

This =may be of assistance fro some users. I have had to use the "Return Receipt" option to conduct business for my home owners associaton and ve=ndors. Apple mail does not appear to easily support this, but, Mozilla Application "Thunderbird" mail app DOES.... It is easily accessable within the email app and under options. Simmply click it from the drop down menu and there it is... Works for one email and then goes back off. No worries about other users feeling paranoid about you asking for the return receipt, they either click accept or deny, that ends it. Simple Sweet and to the point... Hope that helps some.........mf
