Facebook will not load

Hey,
So I cannot load facebook for 5 days now using Safari 4. It is the only website with this problem. I have emptied my cache, reset safari, run 2 virus scans, changed passwords, tried Firefox and Opera (neither would open it).
I see this has been a problem before but can I fix it or is it a facebook problem? I can live without facebook just want to make sure it is not a phishing problem.

Thanks for any help.

So I have done both of those - emptying the cache and resetting safari multiple times with no help. The site does not crash it just will not load ie the login page will not even come up and the loading bar always stops about half way.
When I check the activity log it comes up with
http://static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/z8JBJ/hash/b5uxnj4l.js as it it is trying to load.

I was having this same problem too- Facebook page would start to load, get to the end, then freeze. I'd have to force quit Safari. I solved the problem by resetting Safari (Safari>Reset Safari). I didn't do a full reset either- I kept my stored usernames and passwords and my top sites.

By the way, this problem is on my laptop running Tiger, not the system I have listed in my profile.

maybe you don't have a plugin to launch facebook.

?? shouldn't need any ??

What version of Tiger are you using.? You should be running 10.4.11 If not then update. And if you are still running 10.5.1 on your other computer, you will need at least 10.5.7 (10.5.8 preferably) to run Safari 4 properly.

There is no issues from all my mac friends and facebook.

Cheers

I had a similar problem where Facebook would load sometimes and other times would freeze up Safari. It was strange because this problem never occurred on my Powerbook G4. So I fooled around a bit and found that the problem only occurred when trying to access facebook through Topsites. So if your using topsites then try typing in the url or make a bookmark for facebook. Hope it helps. :]

I am having similar Facebook Safari issues. Out of the blue too.

I uploaded Safari 4.0.2 on July 11th and everything was fine.
I went on vacation at the beginning of August and shut everything down.
Came home last week and had Facebook crash issues.
I updated to 4.0.3 the 18th hoping that would fix the issue. I did not.

I reset my browser and that didn't help.

So now I'm looking at my logs and thinking w t f is with this sudden random crash spree.
Can anyone make sense of this?

Log Note:

2009-08-23 18:01:49.783 Safari[608] * -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (2) beyond bounds (2)
/XRefStm encountered but not yet supported.
Debugger() was called!

This was the most recent crash but they all say this pretty much.
I'm guessing Facebook added something to their backend processing that Safari doesn't jive with, is the issue?

Any programmer insight would be lovely. =)

Face Book seems to be causing problems for me too. I get numerous freezes with it now the new version of Safari is running. Worked fine with the old one. Keep having to force quit. It's becoming really annoying!

I'm also having this same issue, so despite Keats2010's reminders that he & "none of the Mac FB users HE knows" have this problem, it's obvious many others do. I'm going to try accessing FB by inputting the url, instead of using TopSites, as it could be a TopSite issue, cause Safari froze also, while trying to access the Apple Discussions page, also via TopSites...

Hope that does it, altho TopSites shouldn't be an issue, in and of itself...

I have FB bookmarked.
I don't know if that would make a difference,either.
I never use Top Sites, so I wouldn't know about that option.

Maybe try going to FB via Google . . .
Try it and see if you still have problems.
If not, bookmark it.

Yes, it does seem to be TopSites that is the cause of the problem, but that shouldn't be, as it defeats the whole purpose of having it in the first place. I'll see if there are any threads addressing TopSites....
