I have updated to 2.0.2 garageband and added some loops from the .Mac site. Now I keep getting a message syaing " Timeout or timer inactive - Cneck other applications using timer or MIDI (code 0).

Can someone please shed some light on what I maybe able to do.

I just had the same problem after updating to GB 2.0.2 and doing the last security update (2005-07). It seems to have something to do with coreaudio/coremidi since Cubase is not finding the midi services either and the audio midi setup crashes.
I have reinstalled GB 2.0, but it still do not work.
Anybody would have an idea to avoid a back up restoration?

This worked for me too - thank you so much.

1. Use the Finder to browse to /Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers, then drag the EMagic plugin somewhere else for safe keeping.

2. Load your M-Audio driver again to find the uninstall option and uninstall it.

3. Shut down, disconnect your 410

4. Reinstall driver then reboot and reconnect. Easy.

Thanks for the tip.

It's easy but it SxUxCxKxS.! User uploaded file

I lost more than a day looking around for what was going wrong. If you are curious look at my message:
Nicolas Daum, "Timeout or Timer inactive, MIDI Services not available", 12:44pm Sep 11, 2005 CDT

I've been using Macs for about 20 years.
At that time it was typically the MS-DOS type of issue. Who would lose at least a day on whatever you’d try to install.
In the mid 90’s on Macs we were mired in Extensions conflicts. In the 96-98 I almost tossed my Mac several times through the window… but I knew Windows too well to be aware of the junk I would find if I shifted.

OS X was the Graal. No more conflicts User uploaded file I had an almost perfect bliss with lots of different applications. It’s hard to believe but iLife (an Apple product) comes into the picture and you are back 10 years in the past. iTunes 4.9 has the worst bug I have ever seen on a Mac. The v5 seems a little better.

M-Audio recommends GB but FW Solo is not compatible with some extensions in OS X.

How come this stupid application GB delivers messages about Timer, Timeout, Mac OS X MIDI Services that are documented nowhere in the whole universe???

Thanks again anyway.

Do you think it has to be a routine?
The Gremlin came back so I'll to do it all over again.

I deeply regret I bought iLife. It's not very expensive but it's not worth it anyway.
GarageBand is incompatible with OS X and iTunes has the worst bug I ever saw. I constantly discover applications with messed up settings. This kind of issue appeared with iTunes...
