CD-RW

CD-RW

trying to use cd-rw for a file that I can change at will. Is this not what they're for?
brand new disk, put in drive, type text, if I eject without burning it's blank, if I burn it can't add or delete info..
what am I doing wrong?

emac, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Not really. That feature is called packet writing, and isn't available in Mac OS X. Use a hard or flash drive instead.

so I have to leave document in computer. am aware I can do that, was trying to save it elsewhere in case it crashed. just for my knowledge; what's the difference between CD-R and CD=RW then?

A CD-RW can be written to multiple times. In Mac OS X, that either requires leaving the disk appendable following the first burn, or erasing it. Both can be done from the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder.

CD-Rs can be left appendable.

thanks for your help Niel. perhaps I'll pick up a flash. looked around a little bit at amazon. would you recommend one brand over the other for the emac?
