I have a problem, I used mobile me for a while (trial), sync using it, after the trial was over, I switch to yahoo and sync contacts there, My Iphone got Stolen, so I bough a new one, and sync my contacts again, but some contacts seem to be missing from the contacts Icon on iphone, I have to go to Iphone search and find them, or simple dial the contact phone # and the name of the contact appears on screen, or if they call me. but they don`t appear on iphone contacts?????? what is happening?

I have a similar problem, as I think others do too - see the other discussion here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2104287

Twice now, after having created a new contact on the iPhone from a text/SMS message I have received (clicking to Add to Contacts at the top of the text message window), the Contact is missing from my Contacts list. However, I can find the Contact by performing a Spotlight search. The only way I have been able to fix the problem is to delete the Contact and re-create it from within the Contacts app.

I am syncing my Contacts with MobileMe over the air and have synchronisation via iTunes switched off. Once the Contact appears in the Contacts list, it syncs perfectly with MobileMe.

I have an iPhone 3GS running 3.0.1, though the problem also occurred on OS 3.0.

I got exactly the same problem. My guess is, that the iPhone isn't assigning any group to a contact which is newly created through sms. Thus it just "disappears"...
