Error 0xE8000012

Hi,

Over the last few days my iPhone has stopped syncing with my Macbook (running Tiger OS X) and to me it seems to be since I updated iTunes. When plugging my phone in to the USB port, I'm presented with the error iTunes could not connect device due to unknown error (0xE8000012) and that's as far as it goes. I can connect my iPhone to my work PC running Win XP to restore the phone but even after this it is still not recognised in iTunes on the Macbook.

I've uninstalled iTunes multiple times and cleared files from the Library for both the app and the iPhone and yet nothing seems to fix this.

Any suggestions?
