Will Mail support TLS in Snow Leopard?

There is a small enough difference between SSL and TLS to make it not work when a server expects TLS [1]. As noted elsewhere in these discussions [2] I have found that Mail+SSL does not work to a SMTP+TLS server. I can configure Thunderbird (which does explicitly support TLS and SSL) to talk OK to the same server. So, Mail needs to be updated to support TLS. It does not sound like a huge engineering task, and as Mail in Snow Leopard is supposed to support Exchange natively [3], I would have though that Mail would have gone thru some major changes...
