My company requires all scanned documents to be uploaded in a multipage .tiff format. This is to accommodate LaserFiche and Microsoft Document Imaging. I'm having trouble converting my multi-page .pdf files into a single .tiff file. For example I used AcrobatPro 9 to convert a 50-page document to .tiff format. The result was 50 individual .tiff files numbered sequentially all over my desktop. When I receive a multi-page .tiff in an e-mail, preview and Acrobat have no problem displaying the pages. I've tried using VueScan, but that doesn't support the duplex document feeder, nor can I save to multi-page .tiff. Please help! THANKS.
Thanks for your help. I tried the GraphicConverter software which you suggested. Although it converts to multipage .tiffs, the compression is rubbish. I tried converting a 2.5 mb 16 page .pdf scanned at 300 dpi to a multipage tiff and the resulting file was 9.9 mb with LZH compression. The same scan in Microsoft Document Imaging was only 293 k @ 300 dpi. With NO compression, the 2.5 mb .pdf resulted in a multipage .tiff of 391 mb using GraphicConverter. I need better compression and software speed. Maybe, I'll buy an Intel Mac and run Windows.
I suspect that your problem with compression is that the Windows software is making assumptions that are controlled on your Macintosh. The compression may not be the only thing that the Windows software is doing; it may be leaving out some or all of the other tagged information.
I admit to not being an expert on the subject, but I suspect that you could get the same results as you are getting from Windows if you set the parameters to be the same. You may need to discard profiles and things like that. Try opening a sample file made on a Windows machine in GraphicConverter and see what information there is for it. You may find that it is something other than just compression which is different.
