How to dial phone # from calendar

I am very frustrated that I can't seem to dial a phone number I entered as an event in my calendar with just a tap. Yet, lo and behold, I go onto the Apple site and I see this:

"Using Multi-Touch on iPhone makes the Calendar application intuitive and simple to use. Tap to create and send out meeting invites, accept or decline a meeting invitation, or dial a phone number from meeting notes."

What does this mean? Where? I regularly set up the phone numbers of people I need to call in Calendar and, so far, I can do this on any phone but can't figure out how to do this from the iPhone. Is this feature only available in "meeting notes?" Where is that? Is it visible on your calendar? If it isn't, who cares?

iPhone 3GS, iPhone OS 3.0.1

Yes, only in the Notes. Meaning, if you or whoever organized the meeting enters a phone number in the Notes field, you can tap the number to dial it. The field is only present if notes were entered - for example, you can enter notes when creating a new event on the iPhone; for Outlook invitations sent via Exchange, text entered into the 'body' of the calendar event are Notes. It +does not+ work for numbers entered the location field (which is how most of my invites are, unfortunately).

You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

Thanks.

I see the Wisdom in this. For daily events I add to every day, the phone number doesn't function as a phone number. But for all those notes that I take on my iPhone from meetings I might attend that happens every... I don't know.... never, then I can dial from those notes. I'd sooner dial from a contact or dial from a follow up event I've set up.

Feedback? I'm trying to figure out who built the calendar. I should be sending my resume!!!

This also adds an interesting wrinkle; if you need directions to a meeting and the person who organized the meeting has added the address in the "Location" field, you cannot tap that area to get a map, but if that same data is in the notes section, one tap and you get a map! Two possible fixes I can think of; first off allow the data as entered to function, as either address link to a map or to start a phone call. The other option is to create a system to automatically copy that data to the notes section. I'd vote for the first; it's a hassle to copy and paste into notes, and it's counterintuitive to post this data in the notes section. I've already posted feedback to Apple, we'll see...

Thanks. Unfortunately Apple has a list a mile long of basic PDA features that have been ignored, including default alarms, snooze, custom settings for your alarms... and if there is one part of the calendar that drives me crazy it's the need to have that stupid edit screen off the main screen that does NOTHING more than place an edit button so you have another screen to go through. The Apple UI they have made in the calendar features more clicks and swipes than Microsoft ever did.
