Canon Selphy Photo Printer not working despite new printer driver installed

I've tried to add a Canon Selphy photo printer. iMac recognises the printer through both the iPhoto application, and through Print&Fax preferences, and latest appropriate driver has been downloaded from Canon and "installed", yet nothing happens when photos are supposed to print.
Also connected is Samsung printer working fine. Selecting the Selphy printer (Vs Samsung printer) is not the answer - there is no problem 'selecting' the Selphy photo printer, just that nothing happens.
Power/USB cable etc also not the answer, as connect/disconnect from iMac shows the printer as being connected appropriately.
Please help

Mac OS X 10.5 has a number of Selphy printer drivers included with the installation. If you have selected one of these Gutenprint drivers instead of the Canon driver you downloaded and installed, then this may be causing your issue.

What model Selphy do you have?

Also, if you select the currently installed Selphy printer queue in System Preferences > Print & Fax, and then press the Options & Supplies button, the General tab will show the driver version currently selected. Can you reply with this version.
