Mac can't detect Vodafone USB Modem

My Mac can't detect the Vodafone USB modem K365Z, although I manage to install the Vodafone Mobile Connect application form the device. The window stated that "no PC card or modem detected". I've tried plug it off and on a few times and even restart the computer but it's still not working. However, when I tried on Vista and XP, it works just fine.

I purchased a Vodafone USB modem model: K3565-Z while I was in Australia. I plugged it into my MacBook Air the software downloaded automatically and it worked fine. Now back in the UK I went to a Vodafone shop to ask if the device was locked but they were unable to help. I also enquired about Pay As You Go and I was told that they do not work with Apple Macs but if I purchased a monthly subscription then the modem will work as it is a newer model.
