I know there´s a shortcut for going to the top of the page but I have the opposite problem, going to the end. Some pages are very long, especially on blogs and discussion forums. There should be a way to quickly jump to the end of a page in Safari. It works on the mac version. What about double-tapping on the the status bar? A very useful feature for the next version!
Agreed. Long forum posts and other Webpages can be a pain to scroll through. Better to have some kind of superscroll but could use an end-page command too.
I´ve sent my suggestion to Apple using the feedback form. Is there a forum somewhere to discuss improvement suggestions? Using http://apple.com/feedback is not a good way since there is no feedback. I think that apple should have a forum where improvements can be discussed in the open including possibility to vote regarding suggested features etc.
It's actually pretty easy to do the trick with so-called "scriptlets", which Safari is compatible with.
I've created, among other scriplets (like finding all occurrences of a text string in any Web page), one that scrolls down to the end of the page. The scriplet is as follows:
javascript:window.scrollTo(0,1000000)
To deploy it, just create another Safari favorite and, then, edit the URL (not the name). Paste the above string there. After saving, go to any Wab page (make sure you aren’t at the end of it.). Bring up Favorites and select the just-added & edited favorite. You’re scrolled down right to the end of the page.
Note that this trick also works with some third-party browsers (but in no way all of them); for example, iCab Mobile.
Let me know if you need a more detailed tutorial on how scriplets can be added to your Safari favorites. I’ve written one but, given that it’s not possible to post imges in here, it’d take me a lot of time to reproduce it here.
