Second Monitor Gray Wall of Fuzz

When I woke up my Mac Pro tower from sleep this morning, the secondary display was a wall of gray static-y fuzz; this has happened on occasion before when waking from sleep. I tried turning the power button on the display on and off and also logging out my user, but was unsuccessful at getting the monitor to display properly; it required a Restart to get the display back.

I suspect this may be video card driver related.

My monitors are brand new NEC displays: the primary is the NEC 2490 WUXi and the secondary monitor is the 24WMCX. My video card is the ATI Radeon 4870.

I'm a newbie to Macs. Bought my first one (a MacBook Pro) a week ago. My NEC 2490WUXi has problems waking up from the sleep mode too. It flashes several times and continually tries to go back to sleep unless I move my mouse around while it's warming up, and many times when it finally does wake up, the desktop bar is half hidden on the right side of the screen and the individual icons are half hidden on the left side. Any ideas as to why that's happening? Is there a new SL driver available that will correct the problem or are the Mac-installed drivers the best ones to use?
