Maps aligned to magnetic north and not true north

Hello,
just wondering if anyone is having a similar issue. I'm trying to get maps to align to true north. Right now it's aligned to magnetic and so the streets are all at an angle. Not sure what I did that all of a sudden it aligned itself this way. Any thoughts on how to revert back?
Yes my compass is on true north
and no, maps is not on "follow" mode
any help is much appreciated

Switch between true north and magnetic north:
Tap i and tap the setting you want.

Here in So. Calif I always check to see if the streets are still really running N-S before blaming the compass 😉

Thanks for the responses
the compass is already set to true north as indicated In my original post and of course the streets don't run true north or south in my city. But at least it 'was' displayed as such in maps before. Now (all if a sudden) the map is aligned off kilter i.e. Magnetic north
