Mainstage with Keystation Pro 88

Hi all,

i'm having big problem mapping buttons on the Keystation pro 88 to the mainstage, all the buttons seem to function at the same time... i can't assign them individually... i have no idea what i've doen wrong here.... all the knobs and faders were mapped perfectly...apart from the buttons... if anyone has any idea please advise.. also... how do i get the master level map to the VU metre?

thank you in advance...

I am having exactly the same problem...
All my buttons (on the right side of the keyboard) are set to controller values ranging from 44 thru 60), but they all do the same thing in Mainstage.

I suspect it has something to do with the LSB value coming up the same in the learn function, but I can't remember how to fix this... ???
I have become very lazy when it comes to midi.... I used to be a bit of a gun with the midi lingo, but Logic has made me lazy.

Interestingly, I have a whole bunch of commands set up with LogicPro and these buttons are all seen separately in Logic, just not mainstage.

Anyone got any tips?

PS. Sorry for jumping on to your thread in both forums, but I am having exactly the same problem it would seem.

Hi mate,
Yeah, Komplete5 is working fine and of course it's not a stupid question.
As in Logic, I don't use Akoustik Piano or Elektric Piano as their instrument players aren't up to date, so i run those instruments in Kontakt 3.5, which is really great now that they've Kompletely rebuilt it.
Just be sure to have all the K5 plugs up to date and all is good.

Those controller numbers we are seeing are for the controllers themselves, not the controller numbers that are output. This is where the confusion is.
To make it even more confusing, Logic can differentiate between them (they are bank controller messages by the looks of things) and have them routed to various control surface mappings.

What you/we need to do, is setup a template in the Pro88 that uses basic controller numbers for the various buttons and faders.... Of course, if we use the same patch on the Pro 88 for Logic, we'll have to relearn the maps in the control surface preferences too.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for the slight hijack ... but Matrixx ... what exactly to you mean that the Akoustic and Elektric aren't up to date, so you don't use them? Is it a latency issue? Sounds? Processor issue? Why do you stay away from these plugins?

Side note, I have almost this exact rig - MBP 2G, Keystation Pro 88, Komplete 5, Stylus RMX, Trilogy, a Receptor Pro and am looking to virtualize my JV-880 ... hoping to go all MainStage to run everything.

Looks pretty good so far, although it does seem that MS 2 has a bit of bugginess here and there...

soratach,

I believe I have found the problem. I just recently purchased a Keystation Pro 88, and had the exact same issue, all of the buttons triggered at the same time. The problem lies in the programming of the Keystation Pro, not Mainstage. Try this:

1. On the left side of the Keystation panel, press the button that says "Recall" (it should be the very first one, top left).

2. The internal program number the Keystation is set to will appear as a number between 1 and 10 on the screen. These are the mappings the Keystation comes with from the factory. This mapping can come into conflict with Mainstage's mapping, hence the button problems.

3. Press the number 8 (which is the default program for Logic). You will have to re-learn all of the mapping in your Mainstage concert, but the buttons will function individually now. If that doesn't work, you could also try doing the above but pressing 10, this is the Keystation's factory default for learning.

Hope it works out, man.

Cheers!

Mmmm, something weird going on here then...
That didn't work for me. It seems that the Pro88 is outputting Program change numbers instead of the controller numbers that I want it to for the buttons. This is not a problem for Logic, as it seems to be dealing with them, but in Mainstage, all of the buttons are behaving like one button, ie If I map the second button to 'Play' (for track playback), they all act as 'Play'
I've even loaded up the Enigma software to see what's going on and it's not helped a bit. ***!

Just as an extra....

When you move a control or hit a button on the Pro88 the screen, after a couple of seconds (and once it's displayed the value being output), will display the controller number for the button/fader/dial activated last.
Now, with all of my buttons (excluding the transport ones) are displaying CC 145 and there's nothing I can do with either Enigma or the unit itself to change that. Even though, on Enigma it is displaying the values I programmed (even after downloading the patch from the keyboard to enigma).

Got me stuffed! Anyone got any clues?
