Adding a Scoreboard

I just bought a new MacBook Pro and it's my first Mac. I am not familiar with imovie and am wondering if I can superimpose a scoreboard over a video. I am filming soccer games and would like to add a scoreboard with timer if possible.

Are you talking about having it on screen while other footage plays on top of it? I don't think you can do this, but am just getting familiar with iMovie 09 myself. I bought the book "iMovie 09 The Missing Manual" which I would recommend as a great resource. I know you can do PiP (Picture in Picture) which would let you have the scoreboard in the picture in picture screen. Also, you can put clips of the scoreboard in between frames periodically to update people on the score changing. Hope that helps.

Thanks, but I was looking more for an overlay like the networks use. It would be WAY too much work to film the scoreboard for the entire game and then do PIP. There is a company that sells an overlay for PC, but I was hoping there was one for Mac.
