upload pictures from a cd to iphoto

I'm trying to upload my 1,000 wedding pictures from the cd into iphoto. About 500 pics have uploaded, I can hear the cd moving, revving up speed and then stopping. The photos upload very slowly and I still have 500 to go. Any tips?

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums

iPhoto can be slow with large imports from CDs - generally it works better to copy the photos to the hard drive (finder or image capture) and import from there then delete from the hard drive
