Can I enlarge PhotoBooth window?

Is there a way of enlarging the PhotoBooth window of even have it fullscreen?
I imagine it would be much more fun to play with all the effects when seeing yourself in a bigger sized window. Since I can resize the window in iChat as well, I can't see why this should't be possible for PhotoBooth...

Hello, vjPulp

Short answer is no. If you want more, continue to read.

Photo Booth is such a simple app that it has few controls. Many apps allow dragging a corner to resize their active windows, but Photo Booth does not.

(1) However, there may be a way for your to see Photo Booth full screen. Here are a couple of alternative that work on my Mac with its 20 inch Apple display.

Although your cannot change the size or resolution of your Photo Booth image, you can change the resolution of your screen.

After launching Photo Booth, you can use your Mac's  > System Preferences... > Dsplays > Display menu to change your screen "Resolutions:". Using lower resolution settings will make the Photo Booth (and every other) window appear larger on your display, although the enlarged image will appear grainy. At 640x480 (Stretched), my Photo Booth image is (more than) full screen, but I need to move the System Preferences... window to see Photo Booth.

(2) If you want the images larger but do not need to have Photo Booth's live image full screen, caputring an image and resizing it with a good image editor like PhotoShop will give you larger images that probably look better than what you see using method (1).

Thanks, EZ Jim, for your reply.

Well that's a pity. I'm aware of the options you described. Changing the monitor resulution would be sort of a workaround, since, as you say, the whole quality of the screen would look unsatisfying.

Maybe in Snow Leopard, Apple will add the option of resizing the window. I don't really see why they dropped it (or didn't think of it in the first place). But oh well, my life doesn't depend on it 😉

You're certainly welcome, vjPulp

I wholeheartedly agree that there is nothing life dependent about the Photo Booth app.

Thank you again for your kind answer.

I followed your advice and wrote my suggestions directly to Apple. Let's hope they take a closer look at them.

As for my original topic, I don't think I have any questions left. I just have to accept that this feature is not possible for the time being.
Still it would be interesting to know the reasons why that little dragable corner was left out in PhotoBooth. Whether it is related to the resolution of the iSight that doesn't allow bigger pictures (but then again, why would it be possible to resize the window in iChat?) - or if it has to do with the computer performance, since these effects have to be rendered in real time...?
I know, I'm just speculating again, so I'm just going to be patient and wait. At least until tomorry, when Snow Leopard arrives and i can check out myself if anything has changed in that matter.

Thanks again for your support!

You're most welcome, vjPulp

And well done on using "Feedback." The "dragable corner" was not included because it is not a feature of the Photo Booth application. Your suggestion has let Apple know that you think it should be added.

As a Mac user like you, I have offered several suggestions through the years. However, changes can take some time. In the meantime, you might want to consider using different or more complex software apps that might offer additional features that are important to you. A couple of Photo Booth alternatives that come to mind are:

  Webcam Tweaker   - or -

  Funny Photographer

Either will work with your Leopard equipped MacBook Pro, and Webcam Webcam Tweaker's window seems to be resizable.
