Rocketfish Bluetooth Keyboard Issue

Hello all,

I have a late 2006 intel iMac with 1 gig ram, 250 gig HDD with a core 2 duo.

I recently purchased a rocketfish bluetooth mouse and keyboard. They are both working fine except for 1 issue.

Every time I power on my imac, the mouse works, but, the keyboard doesent. then, MAC OS takes me to the bluetooth setup assistant and I have to pair the keyboard with the imac. I then have to type the 9 digit key and after that, the keyboard works fine.

What i find odd, is, I need to do this EVERY SINGLE TIME I power on my imac. is there a setting I am overlooking to make the iMac remember this keyboard?

I suppose it's really not that big of an issue, but, it can become quite frustrating to go through that every time I power up.

HI Gary,

*"I suppose it's really not that big of an issue, but, it can become quite frustrating to go through that every time I power up."*

I totally agree. You shouldn't have to re pair the keyboard every time you startup your iMac.

Try this... locate this file. com.apple.Bluetooth.plist

~/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac.

You may have to re "pair" the keyboard one more time.

Thanks Carolyn. I did what you said, and, still, upon startup (3 times) the iMac was searching for a keyboard, I have to hit the connect button on the keyboard, it finds it, I have to enter my 9 digit code, then it connects.

This is bizarre. I dont know what else to try at this point. The mouse is no problem. it is the keyboard. Once connected and paired, everything works fine. I can leave my imac on for days and still no issues. it is always on startup.

Any more ideas?

*"Once connected and paired, everything works fine"*

Check the batteries to make sure they are charged just in case.

If the batteries are ok... open System Preferences/Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list on the left side. Make sure the Discoverable button is selected. Restart your Mac and try pairing the keyboard again.

It's being stubborn!

Are you running Windows on your iMac by chance?

Try repairing disk permissions.

Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
