Cisco VPN Client Needed For Work, will it work with Snow Leopard

Hey Guys,
So I have Cisco VPN Client 4.9.01 with some settings (including passwords I do not know) that my Corporate job offered on their FTP Site. Works great for using my Lotus Notes e-mail.

I am just wondering if this will work with Snow Leopard. People are talking about using Apple's VPN client. I suppose this would be fine if I knew the passwords! If I have to use the Apple VPN Client, is there a way to export the settings from my Cisco client and importing to Apple?
Thanks!

gypsydave, thanks for the reply.

This is exactly what I did from the first point the "Cisco" type VPN showed up in the betas of Chilly Kitty. No joy then, no joy now. Have been trying this in the iPhone pretty regularly too which has had the "Cisco" type VPN choice for some time. Again no joy in Mudville.

The Cisco VPNClient was actually causing KP's in Chilly Kitty pretty consistently up until the final release. Still not convinced the Cisco VPNClient software will not tank 10.6 but will find out this weekend.

My effort is to remove any foreign kext (kernel extension, potential system killer) that I can and right now.. The Cisco software has always been a source of problems and if I could kick that to the door, joy would commence!

But for the topic thread, I am tool running Cisco VPNClient 4.9.0180 (crazy version numbers) and it is working fairly well, even across an iPhone tethered to my Mac using bluetooth. 😉

I just wanted to chime in on something. For the past two days, I've been dealing with this problem, where my VPN client would come back with that Error 51. I tried downloading the newest Cisco VPN client, spent an afternoon trying to get Snow Leopard's built in VPN client to work (no luck), and tried three other VPN programs, all of which failed to connect. Then, it occurred to me; I have my Mac forced into booting the 64-bit kernel and extensions. I restarted, let it boot into 32-bit kernel and extensions, and viola, VPN client running as good as ever. Seems like a silly thing to mention, especially since most people probably haven't tweaked their Macs into booting 64-bit, but I know there are some geeks out there like me that want it to run at its complete optimum, and thus could cause the problem.

KAdamsInCo: thank you so much! I hate the Cisco client and with your tip, I was able to drop it like a hot potato. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

BTW, I didn't see a 'pcf file value' in my .pcf file and it still works great with the Apple SL VPN client. So those of you who don't see it -- don't worry, it will probably still work.
