Flash player not working on Imac

When I click on videos of news/sports items, they do not play on my mac and some content is not visible onmy a browser. I get messages saying I need to download the newest "Flash player" software. I do this, but it never seems to actually install even though I go through the install steps. Do I somehow have this feature/software turned off or what is my problem wth my Imac not utilizing the flash player software? Thanks for any help.

Imac, Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Have you followed the installation instructions available from a link on the download page http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

It may be worthwhile removing Flashplayer then repairing the disk and the permissions through disk utility before downloading and installing again.

One other thought, are you using Firefox with the noscript plugin, this is designed to turn of Flash off.

Have you tried with a different User account, after that I would try my previous suggestion of removing flash repair permissions and try again. Make sure that Flash gets removed from the /Library/Internet Plugins/ directory.

It may be worth while to check with something such has AppZapper that all traces of the software are removed before repairing permissions and reinstalling.

After that I am out of ideas.
