How to connect my piano to my Macbook Pro?

Hi and thanks so much for your help and time!!

I need to connect my piano ( Yamaha Cp33 Stage Piano ) to my Macbook Pro 15'' to use it with GarageBand and Logic Studio. How may I do so (in detail)?

You'll need a MIDI adapter for your MacBook Pro. Get one that's supported by GarageBand and Logic Studio and it'll be mostly plug-and-play.

There may be two ways to connect the keyboard, USB or MIDI. Generally to use MIDI you need an interface and cables. Often, however, the MIDI interface is built into the keyboard and it can be connected via a USB cable.

However, many pianos will not work via USB and one must resort to the MIDI setup.

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

according to page 44 of the CP33 Manual, you can connect the CP33 with an USB-able to your Mac.

But you need a USB-Midi driver from Yamaha, which can be found here http://www.yamaha.co.jp/download/usb_midi/
