iPhone 3G S stolen - how can I replace it? help!!!

I have had a phone stolen when I was with Verizon and had to pay full price.

This is the nature of subsidized pricing.

The same thing would happen no matter what kind of phone you had stolen. You would especially see the difference in price if the phone you had was subsidized. That is the nature of the beast, and it has nothing to do with Apple or AT&T. It is the same as if you had your car stolen. If you didn't have insurance on it, the only option is to buy a new car.

You can downgrade to a 3G, however you would still pay full price for a 3G. The companies have nothing against you, it is just the way business is done.

should of got mobile me. you can track your phone via GPS and send it messages and all that. but yea they arent going to give you a break just cause your phone got stolen, they dont care man.

Check with your credit card company to see if they have any purchase coverage.

I have heard of people that broke their iPhones through neglect and had Apple replace them at a reduced cost. I can't see how this situation is different...

Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price for the iPhone, which pays for an exchange. The existing iPhone that was broken through neglect or by accident is exchanged for another unless there was catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces.

This situation is different - you have no iPhone to exchange.

Neither AT&T nor Apple caused you to have your phone stolen, and you need to take responsibility. You have my sympathy.

imagine if they DID replace it.
it wouldn't take a single day before a person has the great idea to say his phone was stolen even though it wasn't. then he has two phones. maybe he does it again. three phones.

you see where this is going? if you break or lose stuff you always have to pay for that on your own! that's why I never let my iPhone lie around somewhere without me watching it. I know, it's too late for you, I'm just saying ... if you buy an expensive phone you have to keep your eye on it. If you don't, it's more-or-less your own fault (actually, it's the son of a ---- robbers fault). Even though I sympathize with you a lot, it's just the way it is.

but maybe you can get a used phone or something from ... an online auction house of your choice. If It's locked to AT&T I think you can still use it

If your debit card has a Visa or Mastercard on it, you may have this protection.

oh ... yeah, I mean, they could do that I guess.
But if they said they don't I think you have very little chance.

I beleive it was pretty well advertised that the $199 was the 2 year contract price.

The same goes for you being able to buy another one for $199. If Apple let us do that I would take 10 at that price.

Hi there. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. However I believe you will have greater success speaking to your contract provider than Apple. (As Apple don't provide the subsidy, your provider does).
