Apps bounce back from trash when deleted

When I delete an application and send it to the trash it bounces back to where it came from.

20" Aluminum iMac, g4 ibook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

I am having the same issue. It is only for apps, for any file it empty's just fine.

I actually have that, and tried it. Did the same exact thing as dragging a the app to the trash bin.

I tried appzapper before the mess happened. I wonder if that caused it? Not sure. Anyway, I ended up starting from scratch and doing a clean install and reformatting the drive. It actually runs better and I got rid of a lot of junk in the applications folder because I only installed what I need.

OK so I thought this was AppZapper related until I just tried deleting apps off my school machine which does not have appzapper. Apps still bounce back out of trash. Really don't want to wipe the drive and start fresh, but that seems the only way to fix it.

Just booted in Safe Boot, and was able to delete apps that way. However, still bounces back when booting normally.
