None of the solutions on forums seem to work and I didn't get any replies to original post so is it a question of sending ipod back hoping they might fix or replace or buying a new i pod?

Can anyone advise or has had a similar problem?

    Any help appreciated

My Ipod won't sync either. When I reboot it the music in Itunes will sync but photos won't.
    I get error # 50 message.
When I next try to sync not even the music will sync. Again I get error number 50 and a message that no sync is possible.

As this is the official apple forum I'm a bit suprised no one can provide a solution on here or at least point me in the right direction.

Anyway back to the drawing board

Try to Restore the whole unit - what do you have to loose except everything on your whole Ipod.

I have already made "Restore" and "Restart" the iPod many times... Nothing happens...
    Maybe it's a problem with iPhoto ?

    I've done restore,re installed itunes,checked disc for errors etc countless times,changed cable,copied & pasted 10 batch files.

After 2 weeks I think I'll have to admit defeat & send back

Sent I pod back must admit service was excellent, they sent packaging and was delivered to UK next day.

Have now received e mail telling me Ipod checks out OK I,m completely mystified and wait with bated breath.

Will keep you posted, has any one had similar experience?

    Are you using iTunes 9?

If so, there's a whole bunch of us iPod Classic owners having major problems. The lovely shiny new software has killed my Classic.

Spend a few minutes browsing this part of the discussion forums for proof.

PLEASE everyone having problems report them to Apple via the Feedback system.

    Report the problem:

If enough people experiencing problems flag it up with them directly, it will hopefully slowly dawn on Apple that there is an issue here.

I have had no luck syncing my Classic 120 (purchased this year), but when I tried my 2004 ipod 40GB, it started syncing immediately. The sync just completed without incident. Go figure! There must be some problem between Classic and iTunes 9 that doesn't exist with the older models. Until I find there's a safe fix, I'm going to leave my Classic with the music it currently has, rather than lose everything I've already loaded.

I to am having issues syncing my 160GB as well. It will sync up to around 7000 or 8000 of my 2400 songs and then just freeze. I have restored and iTunes recognizes it. I am just copying them old fashion way, highlight a bunch of songs and drag them. I did find a website that you can download old versions of iTunes at as well. I downloaded 8 as it worked fine before. So far, the copying is working, of course i am only at 6000 songs, hope this will work out.

I just updated to iTunes 9.0.1, and it hasn't fixed this syncing issue yet. I have an 80gb iPod Classic from when it was first released (September 2007) and it won't add or remove songs from the device when I sync it.

Also, when I hook the iPod up to my computer, iTunes sits there saying "syncing" and will remain that way for a long time (over half an hour) while the iPod just says "connected".

Could this be an issue with the 64-bit software? I had my iTunes 9 library in 32-bit Windows XP last week and it worked fine, but I switched it to 64-bit Windows 7 earlier this week, and now it won't sync.

Side-note: since switching to iTunes 9 in 64-bit Windows 7, my iPod Touch is able to successfully sync, meaning that the sync issue appears to only be with the iPod Classic for me.
