Boot Camp & Windows 7 64-bit

I've upgraded and want to upgrade the Boot Camp drivers in Windows 7, however the 64-bit installer doesn't seem to work, giving me "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model".

I went the old route and tried to install the individual drivers in the x64 folder manually, and that seems to work, but I can't find the driver that allows read access to OS X volumes.

According to this ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1846) my late-2008 unibody 13-inch MacBook is not supported for 64-bit, but I'm unsure why, since I used to use the 64-bit Vista and am currently using 64-bit Windows 7.

Any help is appreciated.

There are two issues at play here. First, you're correct that according to the knowledge base article you provided, 64-bit editions of Windows Vista are not supported in Boot Camp on the late 2008 MacBook (13-inch) .

Second, Windows 7 has not been publicly released by Microsoft. According to <http://windows.microsoft.com/windows-7?os=nonwin7> Windows 7 will be available on October 22.

Windows Vista drivers work with Windows 7. Windows Vista is available for two years now. Still no support for most of the Apple machines for x64 Windows. So refering to the release date for Windows 7 in eight weeks makes no sense, there is no thing as connection between these things. It is simple: Apple wants us to use most of the Macs only with Windows Vista 32 Bit and Windows 7 32 Bit. There won't be any 64 Bit drivers on 22nd of October.

I'm fully aware that Windows 7 hasn't been publicly released, however it makes no sense that the Boot Camp drivers included with 10.6 will not work with Windows 7 64-bit, since the drivers included with 10.5 worked fine with Windows 7, even though it is pre-release.

Second, 64-bit drivers are included with the 10.6 install disc, so clearly Apple has planned for it.

My thought is that since my machine isn't listed on the "supported" 64-bit machines, for some strange reason, Apple is disallowing it.
