Snow Leopard and Snow Base Station-Not able to access

Is there any way to access and configure the snow base station via Snow Leopard? I used the old Airport Admin Utility on 10.5 but now Snow Leopard doesn't allow me to use that utility. The new Airport Utility won't recognize or configure the snow base station, and I am having a hard time finding the equivalent WEP key to let others access it. HELP!

I have internet access, but not access to the base station. Ugh!

Macbook Pro, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.5GHZ, Mac OS X (10.6), Snow Leopard

The airport snow works, in the sense that you can still access the internet. I am using airport snow right now.

The airport snow does not work in the sense that you can't access the base station, change any settings on it, or get the wep password for a friend or another computer if they want to use it.

It's stupid. Apple needs to support snow base station instead of forcing upgrades.

There is a free open source java utility to configure Airport Snow/Graphite base stations:
"Airport Base Station Configurator"
http://gicl.cs.drexel.edu/people/sevy/airport/

This is a java application. Make sure you download the UNIX/Windows version, NOT the Mac Classic version.

To run it, you need to unzip the package first. This will create a folder called 'configurator_20'. Then in a terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal) type 'java -jar /Where/You/Unzipped/The/Package/configurator_20/Airport2BaseStationConfig.jar'.

Hope this helps.

Wouter 😉

PS: While this is a fully functional workaround, I really hope Apple releases an update to their application.

I didn't have to go into terminal at all. just double clicking the jar file in 10.5.8 & 10.6 was enough. I successfully was able adjust my port mapping settings and able to broadcast using nicecast in the 10.6 environment. awesome awesome find Wouter. Tres Bien!

Now it's time to upgrade for real i think! This airport deal was the last puzzle piece and saves me from buying a new base station. I'm using the old Graphite one from 2001!
