Quicksilver

Anybody that's running Quicksilver having issues with SL? Mine has been strange. It's not that it doesn't work, it just works differently than the version I ran under Leopard... This is traditionally (for me at least) run on startup. So, the menu shouldn't be active like a regular application, but now under SL, Quick's running like any other app even though I put it on startup just like before. It shows up in the dock, app switcher, and the entire menu's active....

I don't use Quicksilver but I'm sure you know that its development has been stopped a while ago so it's hardly surprising that it misbehaves in snow leopard.
you might want to consider some alternatives. personally, I use Butler and find it pretty wonderful. I don't see any issues with it in snow leopard so far and it's being actively developed (and is for now free).

By "development stopped" you mean according to what they offer on their website? Because I just got the latest build from "http://code.google.com/p/blacktree-alchemy/downloads". That's what's been acting up. Now today I can't find the page specifically, but a day or two ago I found a page that said the last build on their website was leopard compatible, but the newest build that I now have (in beta) was supposed to be good under SL. I will check out butler though. Does it work very similarly to Quicky?

hmm, I may be wrong about Qucksilver not being developed any more. I was basing my statement on posts by other posters on the forum. but based on your post and http://blacktree.com/ this appears to be wrong. then what you are seeing might be some temporary glitches which should be worked out eventually. and in this case it might not be worth while switching and getting used to a new system. i don't know how similar Butler is to Quicksilver as i only use Butler. it's a very nice application launcher. check out the link I gave you for more details.

So, Quicky is fixed and up and running. However, I still have one issue with it. I assigned a trigger to open Firefox but any time I use that trigger to open it Firefox gives me the restore defaults option and continue in safe mode. But, if I just open Firefox normally, all is well. I've deleted the trigger for now but any thoughts?

I found that removing these two plug-ins allowed Quicksilver β56a7 to run under Snow Leopard.
Find the Quickliver PlugIns folder which s/b in /Library/Application Support/Quicksilver (but was actually in my Users/myname/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver for my machine)
and remove these two plugins:

AirPort Module.qsplugin
Services Menu Module.qsplugin

QS was up and running again. Services has changed considerably and the plugin needs major rewrite. BTW - Go to System Preferences Services and turn ON "Send To Quicksilver" option while you are at it.

Found this on the Snow Leopard Wiki. I see at least some of this was covered earlier:

b56a7 reported to work perfectly, though the "Services Menu Module" Plugin causes Quicksilver to crash on launch. You can delete/move "Services Menu Module.qsplugin" from "~/Library/Application Support/Quicksilver/PlugIns" to temporarily fix the issue. Other plugins may cause a similar crash, including the "Airport Module" plug-in. If you use Spaces and "Show Icon in Dock" is unchecked in preferences, when you invoke Quicksilver, it will only open in the Space that it was started in. Workaround is to have "Show Icon in Dock" checked, which is a bit annoying either way. Airport module crashes/doesn't work.

I've deleted all the preferences and plugins from Quicksilver in my user profile library and still cannot get this to run.

I'm appealing to the smart guys on this post.

Is there someplace else these could be hiding out? There is nothing in the top tier Library.

Just FYI - The console crash reports all seem to lead with this
Exception Type: EXC BADACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN PROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000020
Crashed Thread: 0 Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

Find the discussion below fairly interesting. It is now Nov 09 - and I still haven't been able to get Quicksilver working properly on SL. For instance, I have followed the advice below (deleting plug ins etc in my libary) - QS doesn't crash on opening - however, it doesn't find any of my document app searches either.

Any help fixing this would be appreciated. Thx
