Yahoo mail will not, "Load More Messages" on iPhone 3gs

When I go into my Yahoo mail account using the iPhone's mail app, scroll down to the bottom of my list in my inbox, and press the, "Load More Messages" button it will not load more. It's really making me upset. Anyone else having this problem? I have more messages to load but it just refuses to load them. Please help!
Thanks alot.

That ***** dude.

I finally emailed yahoo about the problem and basically everything they suggested did not work. Most of what they suggested was really basic troubleshooting stuff and they didn't address the problem specifically; not surprised. So I replied but I am not getting my hopes up.
This issue seems to be a Yahoo specific problem too because I was on my friends iPhone and tried to Load More Messages on his gmail account and it worked just fine.

Peace all.

Hi,

I know my question is not related to the Yahoo "load more messages" problem but since we are all yahoo mail users i thought this might be the best forum to ask this question.

Does anyone know the IMAP settings for Yahoo mail????

I'm want to configure it with Mail or Entourage. Yahoo mail clearly has a IMAP server since we all use it on the iphone but they haven't made the IMAP server settings public for use on other platforms. Further, the yahoo support team just avoids the question and keeps referring to POP mail without acknowledging the fact that Yahoo IMAP is available for iphone users but no one else. WEIRD!!!!!

thanks.

I also have this problem...

I'm guessing this is just another major iPhone 3.x bug. I did not have this problem prior to upgrading. I doubt it's Yahoo since, as someone else reported, it's also happening with Hotmail. I'm on a 3G, so it's not an 3GS-only issue.

Didn't realize I had this problem until I got a whole bunch of eBay e-mails at once and now can't browse farther back in my e-mails to read the non-eBay ones, so I couldn't tell you whether it was 3.0 or 3.1 that screwed things up royally. I'm really considering downgrading to 2.2 because of all the problems with 3.x, but I don't want to lose the iTunes 9 organization stuff. 😟

In addition to "Load More Messages" not working on the Yahoo Mail, the "Share Contact" will not work either. When you "Share Contact" it is supposed to send a vCard in an email. Something with the Yahoo setup screws that up when the mail is sent.

Interestingly, both of these problems do not exist if I switch to Yahoo via POP. I kept my settings from my POP Yahoo account from before there was the default Yahoo with Push on the iPhone. I just disabled the account.

For testing purposes I re-enabled the Yahoo POP account (the same account as the default, but without IMAP features and Push) and I can both "Load More Messages" and successfully send a vCard via "Share Contact"

Just an update, here is how yahoo responded:

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mobile.

I understand that are encountering a Yahoo! Mail synchronization issue
with your Apple iPhone with AT&T services. I sincerely apologize for any
inconvenience you have experienced. This service is delivered in
conjunction with AT&T, Apple and Yahoo!.

The Apple iPhone has a "load more messages" feature which will send a
request to download messages from Yahoo! to your iPhone device. If all
messages on the Yahoo! Mail servers have already been sent to the
iPhone, no more messages will be sent to your device. However, the
message, "load more messages" will not change and will still be
displayed, even though no more messages need to be sent to your device
as it is already fully updated.

Notes:

1. Please confirm that you have the latest version of the Apple iPhone
software.
2. If you have additional questions about this feature please contact
Apple support directly:

- URL: www.apple.com/support/iphone or
- Phone: 1-800-MY-IPHONE or
- go to www.apple.com/iphone for more information.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help you. Please feel free to
let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns regarding
Yahoo! Mobile Services and we will be happy to assist you further.

I hope you have a great weekend!

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Mobile.

Regards,

So there you have it. Still does not help with fixing the problem but I am thankful that they got back to me. What do you all think?

Peace.

I have the exact same problem. The iPhone Mail app will not load more message when I press that 'button'. I used to work. But now, it briefly checks the servers and then does nothing.
Also search doesn't always work when searching mail on the yahoo server.
I'm on iPhone 3.0... not ready to update to 3.1 cuz of all the problems we've been hearing about.

Just got off the phone with Apple customer support. I have a case # and they have upgraded it to their technical assistant. The rep said it normally takes 3-5 business days to get a response. They have this thread in the ticket so they know it's not just one person affected. Thanks for everyone that has posted over the last month. Hopefully this will help push the resolution forward.

If any of you also call into Apple support, make sure you reference this discussion thread (2131730). The Apple reps on the phone don't normally access the forums, and there's not an easy way to search on the thread ID. So, the easiest way to get them a link to the thread is to have them open any thread in the forum and have them replace the thread ID number in the URL to 2131730.
