Firefox crashing?

Hi,

Has anyone else experienced Firefox crashing? It crashes every time I click anywhere in its window after it comes up. Sometimes I don't have to click, it just crashes.

I have removed all preferences and profiles and tried starting it fresh, but it still crashes.

Thanks,

Brian

Are you using the most recent version? I have 3.5.2 which works perfectly.

Often crashing applications may be due to using incompatible older versions or corrupted files on the computer. These could be preference files, cache files, logs, etc. If the problem is only with Firefox, then I would look in /Library/Caches/ and /Home/Library/Caches/ for any Firefox-related cache files or folders and removing them. Do the same for items in /Library/Preferences/ and /Home/Library/Preferences/. If you delete Firefox and reinstall it, then I would also look for Firefox support folders in /Library/Applications Support/ and /Home/Library/Applications Support/. These folders may be named Mozilla.

Firefox is not crashing, but there seems to be a problem printing from Firefox in Snow Leopard. I can only get it to print 1 page. I can print the same document from the same web page in Safari, and Printing working fine in other apps (such as Adobe Reader and Microsoft Word). Anyone else having this problem??

Ok, here is new info...

Cleared all caches, no extensions, virgin copy of latest FireFox - Crashes approximately 10 secs after opening. This is consistent no matter what I do.

Logged in as a different user, FireFox does NOT crash.

So, there must be something else running on my user that causes FF to creash. Next step is to review logs and see if I can figure this out.

I can't even get firefox to download. Everything was fine when I had the older version, I think 3.0 even after I upgraded to Snow Leopard. Once I tried to download the new version, it won't open. I just crashes and I have to "force quit". I've tried downloading the older version again and still get the same thing. I've cleared cookies, and cache, etc with no result. My husband just got a mac over the weekend with SL already installed and his firefox works fine. I need this browser to log into my classes online so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

I found the answer to my FF crashing problem.

Looking at my logs I found a launchd process running every 10 seconds for LittleSnitch.

8/31/09 2:09:09 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[217] (at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent[7830]) posix_spawn("/Library/Little Snitch/Little Snitch UIAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/Little Snitch UIAgent", ...): No such file or directory
8/31/09 2:09:09 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[217] (at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent[7830]) Exited with exit code: 1
8/31/09 2:09:09 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[217] (at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds
8/31/09 2:09:09 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (at.obdev.littlesnitchd[7831]) posix_spawn("/Library/Little Snitch/lsd", ...): No such file or directory
8/31/09 2:09:09 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (at.obdev.littlesnitchd[7831]) Exited with exit code: 1
8/31/09 2:09:09 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (at.obdev.littlesnitchd) Throttling respawn: Will start in 10 seconds

I had either disable LS at an earlier date or Snow Leopard had during install, I am not sure, but there were still pieces in my /Library and /System that I needed to get rid of. Once I deleted these files:

/System/Library/Extensions/LittleSnitch.kext
/Library/LaunchDaemons/at.obdev.littlesnitchd.plist
/Library/LaunchAgents/at.obdev.LittleSnitchUIAgent.plist
/Library/LaunchAgents/at.obdev.LittleSnitchNetworkMonitor.plist

I could run FF.

So for those of you having FF issues, it is most likely something else running that is preventing FF from running. In my case it was rhe remenents of LittleSnitch, in yours it may be something else.
