Q: Blurry/pixelated icons at random in Finder windows

Just upgraded my MBP (C2D, 3GB RAM) to SL, went smoothly. I'm seeing a lot of blurry icons in the Finder, though, seemingly at random. I'll open a window and about half the icons will be essentially large versions of the 16x16 icon, rather than sharp icons at the appropriate size. Changing the icon size via the new slider just enlarges the blurry icon, it doesn't increase the resolution.

It goes without saying that I'm seeing this on programs, files, and folders for which high-resolution icons is available.

I haven't seen this mentioned elsewhere. Is it a common problem? Surely it'll be addressed in a forthcoming update, but I wonder how rare it is. The only oddball thing about my system is that I have an older ADC-connected 23" Apple Cinema Display monitor connected to the DVI port via Apple's behemoth of a DVI->ADC adapter.

Thanks,
Eric.

    Guess what ...

    10.8.4 didn't fix the problem

Wandering if it will be solved one day,

maybe the concept of icon will be out of date before !

One more thing : the problem appeared on Mac that runned Lion before upgrading on Mountain Lion.

Another Mac never runned Lion, I upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion, and I don't have

this icon problem on it ...

On the other hand, a fresh and clear install of Mountain Lion on "infected" mac has the same problem ... big mystery !

Could you who have a better English than mine discuss this issue here https://discussions.apple.com/message/22179760?ac_cid=op123456#22179760 and try to convince Mr Thomas A Reed that we are not a bunch of Mac illiterates trying to present a junkware effect as a bug in the OS?

I tried to make a comment on this discussion https://discussions.apple.com/message/22179760?ac_cid=op123456#22179760 and after making a comment, it barred me and said that I was not authorized.

the utter arrogance displayed by one Thomas A Reed is sickening in and of itself, I'm afraid I couldn't leave a rational post right now if I tried after reading his snooty responses .... I still have this issue and its now 4+ years after the fact (it started for me immediately after I "upgraded" to Snow Leopard) ... sad to say but this might be the last straw for my 25+ year run with the Mac OS once I do my next computer refresh that will be later this year

This report from David Losada is hiden and something (maybe someboddy) try to secret this all.

Beware Apple, we are all here angry against you, don't play with us.

Tittle says it all. !0.8.4 has not fixed the badly pixelated icons many of us are experiencing. This OS is terrible and looks awful.

My post has been deleted. As a matter of facts, it seems that not only our concerns but we as users are not getting the deserved attention by Apple. Really sad.

    I am really speechless.

    ...

Even after so many years there is no change in this behaviour of icons we all need to associate with our favourite folders and apps...which we need in our daily work!

I would like to find much more people complaining to apple in emails ad letters.

Maybe there is a way to step out and reach more people from the apple -community worldwide.

It is pure kinkiness in comparison to Apple's effort in improving the OS and a real eyecatcher for all affectionate Mac-Lovers.

Maybe a facebook dedicated page ?

I think a lot of people have this issue but blame just themselves, thinking they did something wrong

I wonder when one of us will start a facebook page. Surely some of us would need to post screenshot pics on a daily basis, even a few times a day.

I am a real friend of Apple but this issue needs to go public.

Maybe you, Philippesan will find some time and create this facebook page, post the link here on the forum.

Wondering how many views on facebook will happen until Apple accepts the concerns of its users.

I have this problem on my late 2011 MBP (MacBookPro8,2 with intergrated/AMD graphics), but not on my 2008 MBP (MacBookPro4,1 with NVidia graphics).

Problem persists on Mac with OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion).

    Mac mini 1TB Fusion Drive:

Processor  2,6 GHz Intel Core i7

No problem on two other Macs with OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion):

    iMac 21.5-inch 2012 (1920x1080)

3.1 GHz (Turbo Boost to 3.9 GHz)

    Intel Core i7 (4 cores; 8 threads)

    16 GB RAM

So, this seems a bug of the graphic card/software.

Thanks, but that does not work for me. Additionally, making an alias of any folder in the Desktop shows it pixelated. Eventually it shows OK after rebooting. This is a clear Bug of OS X 10.8.4. No problem with Mac OS X 10.6.8.
