All sent mail goes to DRAFTS folder

Ever since updating to OSX10.6, duplicates of my sent mail
will appear and stay in my DRAFTS folder.
I double checked and there are no open windows/in progress emails opened...
just the files in the drafts folder.
Very odd.

I'm seeing this behavior too, where emails will be in the drafts folder, and I have to reconcile them with the sent items to ensure they were actually sent. Some were sent, others not...

Here too, Mailbox Behavior settings for such a account:

Store draft messages on server: YES
Show notes in Inbox : YES
Store sent messages on server: YES
- delete: Never

Store junk messages on server: NO
- delete: Never

Move deleted messages to Trash: YES
Store deleted messages on server : YES
- permanently erase: One month old

Updated to 10.6 , no clean install

I too have started to have this issue since S.L.

It has happened with all of my mail accounts from many different carriers. It does not matter if it is IMAP or POP - AOL, Google, even Mobile Me has this issue.

Also some of these accounts are set to store drafts on server and some are not, but the issue happens with all of them.

This exact problem is happening to me too, only after upgrading to Snow Leopard. The drafts of my emails never get deleted even after the message is successfully sent and received.

Clearly a Snow Leopard issue. Please fix!! It's so annoying to not really know if your message was sent or received because copies of it are sitting in the drafts folders!

I have resolved my issue by editing Mobile Me configuration. I used to have BOTH mac.com & me.com account info. That is when all sent messages were saved to Drafts. I have since removed the MAC.COM portions and all works like in 10.5.8.

That is except for the RSS Feeds that keep reappearing after deletion. Some go as far back as July 23, 2009 but that is another issue in another thread.

Yeah I don't like saving drafts either, I find them useless, especially when they become a bug.

But if you turn off "save drafts on server" doesn't it just save the drafts anyways on your mac? and create in the drafts mailbox that arrow to the left of it and when you expand it you have "On My Mac" and "MobileMe"? Or does that not show up?

Yes you do get the drafts folder on your Mac, but that is OK.
