Windows 7 wifi problems "waiting for users"

Hello!

I'm trying to connect my ipod touch 1st generation (software version 3.0) to my toshiba p40 windows 7's ad-hoc wireless netwrok connection. The problem is that everytime i try to do this, the ipod gets connected (the wifi icon appears in the top left corner) but the w windows wirless manager keeps saying "wainting for users to connect". Also the ipod ip's are 169.254.X.X form. I tried manually entering IP, DNS, Gateway and all other stuff, updating wifi card drivers, but nothing works. I can get connected to all other ad-hoc and router wifi's and have no other problems. And all other computer can connect to my Toshiba wireless connection. The problem is only with my ipod.

For some reason, the Windows 7 version you are running is not executing the DHCP (IP address assignment) properly. Have you tried connecting other devices to this ad hoc network?

You may have to wait until Windows 7 is actually released.

Thank you luvlabs.

The problem is not the Windows 7. I have the same version, from the same DVD on three computers. Just my computer seems to be the problem. DHCP is enabled. I can connect all other computers to my computer, but not the ipod touch. I haven't tried other devices like xbox, wii or so.

you seriously think i didn't reboot my computer sevral times until now? im dealing with this since three weeks now. im not trying to be a bad ***, thanks for your suggestions, but that is not the solution - rebooting.

Come on people, what other suggestions do you have?

I certainly would try the other devices. I'm not sure what would cause what you are seeing but it wouldn't hurt to reboot and see if the wireless card gets reset properly.
