Do I use iSync with iPhone and iTunes?

I am a fairly new iPhone user and am having some syncing problems. I sync my iPhone to iTunes via a USB cable. On about every other sync, the contacts seem to hang and take a long time to complete (although eventually they do). During this time, the iSync icon on the menu bar spins and if I put my cursor over it the top line says "Canceling Sync".

I do not use MobileMe or Bluetooth to sync. I am trying to understand if I even need iSync activated? I went into the iSync preferences an unchecked the box that says Enable Syncing on this Computer but then it seems that nothing syncs over USB. But I've seen other posts that imply that you only use iSync for MobileMe, or Bluetooth or a phone that supports it (not an iPhone).

Can someone give me some direction on this. I'm thinking my contact ync issue is somehow related to this iSync issue but I can't be sure at this point.

Thanks,

David

The iSync application is only used for syncing non-Apple mobile phones, however, syncing for the computer does have to be anabled in iSync's preferences.

You can't sync the iPhone over Bluetooth or using iSync. You either use MobileMe for over the air syncing, or iTunes for USB syncing.

I would suggest posting in one of the iPhone specific forums here:
