DVR-118 vs. DVR-A18

DVR-118 vs. DVR-A18

Time for a new superdrive on my G5 dual 2.5
I see Best Buy has a Pioneer DVR-A18 for $59. Is this about the same as the DVR-118?
I picked Best Buy since I could get it today

Anything else I should know would be appreciated.

Hi-

The A18 is just a retail package drive/software bundle of the 118.
The software won't do you any good, as it is typically WinPC software only.
The A18 also has a finished face plate that you don't need.

The bare drive, DVR-118 usually sells for around $30.

Any drive that you install will require the tray bezel to be removed for clearance in the G5 tower.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I need an optical drive ASAP
and if it is compatible w/ the G5 I'll have to take the monetary hit.

The BB add says Atapi interface. Would this work?
