Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I can't see any of the airport devices on my network, regardless of how long I sit and refresh. I also can't see the printer I used to print to wirelessly. (I gather that the printer is not supported under snow leopard anyway, but I'd like to at least be able to see it on the network!)
Some steps you might try (steps should be in system preferences help).
- Hook up to the Airport via Ethernet and see if it is recognized.
- Try to create a new network location.
- Try from a different user account to see if it is a local settings issue.
I have had the same problem since upgrading to Snow Leopard. I have a first generation Time Capsule. Even reinstalled the airport admin, connected with ethernet, etc. Could see and interact with it with Boot Camp on XP SP3, so I was a little worried as well.
Turns out all it needed was to unplug the power from the Time Capsule and let it sit for a minute, then power it back up and BANG! It was instantly acknowledged and configurable by airport utility.
Hopefully in your case its an easy of a fix as is was for me.
1. "Open Network Preferences..."
2. Click on pop-up menu of "Location:"
3. Click "Edit Locations..."
4. Create a new location, whatever name should do fine.
Bingo~
This is a serious bug for upgrading from Leopard to Snow Leopard! Hope apple launch patch soon enough to get things right.
