Installation issue

Trying to install Snow Leopard Server on an Intel Mac Mini core duo with 2GB RAM and the installer fails saying:
Mac OS X Server 10.6 cannot be installed on this machine.
Please consult the documentation for the list of supported Macintosh computers.

When I look at the documentation is says:
An Intel Desktop or Server Macintosh
2 GB of RAM
10 GB of disk space

I meet all the requirements. Has something changed with their support of installing Server on a Mini? I've always been able to do this in the past, even with the Beta builds of 10.6 server.

of many, the MacBook is my fav!, Mac OS X (10.6)

Snow Leopard Server installs on the Mac Mini just fine. BTDT

What's on the current box? (You mention SL beta builds. Is this a beta?)

Regardless, I'd probably wipe the disk and install.

I've successfully used an external disk as a way to migrate SL Server settings in; clone the existing system disk to an external disk (using Disk Utility), wipe and install from the SL Server DVD, and migrate the settings in from the external storage.

Presuming this is a Mac OS X Server 10.6, 10.6.1 or 10.6.2 installation that has failed... Create a disk backup of your Mac OS X Server disk. You should create that archive copy, regardless. Wipe the target system disk from within the installer. Install Mac OS X Server. Migrate your settings into the new environment from the backup disk; this migration is a feature offered within the Mac OS X Server installer.

Many thanks for the suggestion. I had done a full disk backup as a safety measure, but had assumed the install would do an in-place upgrade as it had done for 10.6 on the desktop. Took your advice of the clean install and everything seems to be going fine, with the process just now restoring setting and documents from the backup drive. Very smooth (in the end!) - thanks again.
