Canon Selphy Printers (ES2/ES3/ES30/ES40)

Has anyone had success printing to a Canon Selphy printer with 10.6? I have an ES2. I tried resetting the print system and using the Gutenprint driver but when I try to print from iPhoto, the printer driver hangs endlessly at "Print page 1 - 100%" but nothing ever happens on the Selphy. I tried also using the older ES2 driver (not Gutenprint) and this does not work either.

Anyone have any suggestions? Right now I am booting into VMWare and printing from a Windows virtual machine. Not the best use of time!

I saw someone else got a Selphy printer to work but I am not sure how. Sounds like they were using Gutenprint. Hm.

I have a Canon Selphy ES1 that is now useless after the 10.6 upgrade. I get exactly the same symptoms - it's says printing is at 100% but nothing happens on the printer.
At work I've lost access to my Canon IR2270 multi-function printer that used to work perfectly under 10.5
The experience of printing under 10.6 is extremely un-Mac like.. My wife has been laughing at me because I have to boot into Windows to print!

I had the same problem with a Canon Selphy CP-720. The Gutenprint driver that Snow Leopard (OSX 10.6) installs, just hangs the printer.

On a hunch, I downloaded and installed the drivers for Leopard (OSX 10.5) from the Canon website. I restarted the computer and reinstalled the printer, selecting the driver for 10.5. The printer now works again.

I hope that Apple updates the printer list to give people a clue that Gutenprint is useless in this case, even if they don't add the old driver.

I've a Selphy ES20 - and now it prints.
The Gutenprint driver won't work - neither Gutenprint 5.2.3 nor 5.2.4.

I've made it nearly like zenobiaflex:
(Due to I don't now what the best way is, I write down my steps)
1.) Installed Gutenprint 5.2.4 = don't print
2.) Installed the Canon ES20 printer driver 2.1 from Canon Website (although it's not for OS X 10.6)
3.) Deinstalled Gutenprint with "gutenprint-uninstaller-1.2.6.dmg" (see http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/MacOSX.php)
4.) Reboot the Mac
5.) After reboot, the Mac finds the Selphy by himself and can print (under iPhoto, Photoshop Elements and so on)

After all: I hople like zenobiaflex that Apple or the Gutenprint-Project recognize that the driver is completely useless (more tests before approval?).

Have the same problem with the Selphy ES2. Tried to use the old Canon driver from the Canon homepage - no success. But this Canon driver seems to be made for windows, because at installing you have to close all running programs and after installation you have to make a restart. That's really boring only for recognizing the ES2 does not work!

Apple Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and printers.

I upgraded to the 10.6.1 and as a result had to get rid of my HP printer because it was not compatible. Now I have to get rid of the Canon ES2 because it is not compatible. So my advice for all of you trying to figure out what to do. You have two option.

1) reinstall an older MAC OS X - Not Snow Leopard
2) buy a new printer.

After numerous phone calls with Apple, HP and Canon.. that is what I was "unofficially " told to do.
