HP PSC 1300 all in one printer.

Hi, After installing Snow leopard i can't seem to connect to any HP printer. I've tried deleting all printers for System preferences. Tried turning printer off and inplugging it. Snow Leopard said the driver for this printer should be available. But when i plug my printer in my mac recognises it but can't find drivers. I've tried downloading them but still no go...any ideas??

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.6)

I too have a HP psc 1300 series AIO printer. Based on Apples Snow Leopard Mac OS 10.6 support site our printer may not be supported in SL.

I can not immediately answer or help as SL will not arrive until 9/1/09.

If you have not yet, check out this info at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669. Seems like our $upgrade$ might become more costly, or stay with Leopard 10.5.8 for awhile.

For more info on SL see: http://www.apple.com/support/snowleopard/

So far as I can see, support for my PSC1350 went from 'limited' in Leopard to 'zero' in Snow Leopard. HP has abandoned the PSC devices. They're paperweights.

And the situation isn't any better over in Windows: support in Vista is 'limited', and support in Windows 7 appears to be either 'even more limited' or 'nonexistent'.

It's time to buy a new printer.

I installed SL last night. One of the first things I tried was to test my old HP Deskjet 930 and PSC1350. Both failed to work.

Apple has a list of the printer drivers which ship with SL here <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669>. You will note that the DJ930 is supported only by Gutenprint (and even that failed here) while there is no support for PSC devices lower than 1500 except with Gutenprint, and only with a few of them. PSC1200, 1300, and 1400 devices are not supported at all.

I got a Brother MFC-440CN to replace the PSC1350 a long time back. It works fine. Cost me $80, on sale because Brother had just released newer models, so you may not be able to get that precise model anymore. I'm confident that any Brother you get will work, though.

The print drivers for the PSC 1300 series will be made available through an Apple Software Update at some point in the future. And while it may not be today, I think you'll find that by the end of the year the support for your PSC 1350 is actually greater in Snow Leopard then Leopard.

SCANning the horizon, I wonder what I am talking about.

Just trying to help.

Charles,

Thanks for your info and trials. I have now convinced myself to partition my HD and install Snow Leopard on one and Leopard on the other. I have the same set up on an iMac Summer 2000 ( 400 Hz ) that has Tiger on one and 9.2 on the other, both HP 1350 compatible.

Let you know in a few days how this works out. Should be less expensive than a new printer, and with Andrews post, it looks like there still is light for the 1350. 🙂
